The members of the Roxburgh Trio are all extremely talented young performers, Hyesung Park from Korea, Donald Gillan from Scotland and Neil Roxburgh from Canada.

All are scholars and winners of major prizes at the Royal College of Music, they have distinguished themselves in solo recitals and concertos both in the UK and abroad, as well as gaining high praise for their recent Trio performances in London.

Neil Roxburgh was a pupil of the distinguished teacher John Barstow MBE, receiving a full scholarship to the Royal College of Music and culminating in his being awarded the prestigious Tagore Gold Medal for outstanding male student.

His solo and ensemble performances have taken him throughout Europe and Canada, with recognition for “finely graded playing” (The Times) and “consummate professionalism” (The Independent), and he has featured in broadcasts on BBC Radio 3 and Classic FM. A particular empathy for the music of Debussy and Ravel has received much praise.

A committed and respected teacher, he has taught piano and chamber music in the Royal College of Music Junior Department since 1995 and also currently teaches at The King’s School, Canterbury. In much demand for master classes and as adjudicator, he regularly examines nationally and internationally for the ABRSM.

Donald Gillan, cellist, studied at NESMS with Eileen Croxford and won scholarships to the Royal College of Music and the Royal Northern College. He has been a guest player and soloist with many orchestras and has performed at the Edinburgh Festival to great acclaim. He also plays in duos and quartets and his musical life is an extremely varied one.
